“I’M NOT INTERESTING”
Eh. I bet you are.

If I’ve learned anything from talking to random strangers in bar bathrooms at 2 am, it’s that everyone has a fascinating story if you know the right follow-up questions to ask.
I’m not saying your life story would become an Oscar-winning movie. But I’m sure there’s some part of your life that, when presented in the right way, would do numbers on Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn.
You might just need a little help.
Or some practice.
Finding your best story sometimes means stepping into a vulnerable place. Not to say that in order to have a good story you have to unpack your childhood trauma.
But there’s a step early on that often happens in interviews I do, where a person says, “well, you wouldn’t want to hear about this, it’s kind of boring.”
NO.
It’s not boring. I would not be asking you if it was boring. I’m not interested in boring.
At least, it’s not boring yet. There’s only one way to find out if your story is boring, and that’s by telling someone else. Specifically, telling someone who is able to judge if there is a group of people out there who would be interested in that particular story.
Because not everything is made for everyone. You could tell your best friend about the time you backpacked across the Australian outback, and they would fall asleep because they couldn’t care less.
But there are millions of people out there who would be enthralled to hear about every second of that experience. And they’d want to see the video too!
So don’t shut yourself up. Test it out. See what happens. You may be surprised.
